Busy Bees

We have been so crazy busy lately. This past week we had so much stuff to do. I had to try and get all of my visiting teaching done, group projects, my birthday, and our car broke down. So most of last week was spent on the go.
Friday was my birthday. I already got my presents so mike just got me something small for the day off. Oh...we got a puppy!!!! That was one of my presents. His name is spud and he is an Australian Shepherd/Blue heeler/Border Collie mix. He is super cute and very energetic. We got him as a puppy so right now he is 8 weeks old. He isn't as cuddly as I would like but he is pretty fun to play with. We are crate training him while we also potty train him. It has been very difficult to potty train Spud. He has good days and then very bad days. It's difficult but we are determined to make it work. (:
So for Friday mike got me a birthday shirt, birthday pin, and a birthday tiara. Yes...a tiara. I only wore it for a little bit because it was too small and dug into my head. We skipped class to make a day of fun and laziness. Well while mike was getting the car washed (not the truck) he went to start it up after and it wouldn't start. Needless to say we ended up spending my birthday at the dealership trying to get another car. Luckily we saved some of our tax refund money, so we used a little of that to get a new car. We got a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. It's really nice and only had 122,000 miles on it. It gets very good gas mileage and is pretty spacious. While buying a car wasn't exactly how I wanted to spend my birthday I started to feel really bad. So I just went home and took a nap.
We ended up celebrating the next day, Saturday. We had a couple of friends over and we had hamburgers and baked beans. It was pretty delicious. Mike even made me my mom's special turtle cheesecake! It turned out so good! We also went to a friends comedy show on campus and then came home and opened some presents. It was a pretty fun, chill day. It was a pretty darn good birthday. I got to spend it with Adelaide, Mike, and some friends. I had a good time. (:
This past sunday was Easter!!!! (: What a wonderful holiday to celebrate! We had lamb, mashed potatoes, rolls, broccoli, and deviled eggs. I never had lamb before, and I liked it! It was pretty good! We had a good day skyping family and just spending time together.
Adelaide has been so silly lately. She says so many words now. She can say, "uh oh," "dada," "cheese," and "up." She has one of her upper canines in and the other one is right behind it. I'm pretty sure she will have a lisp but it will be super cute. (: Here are some pictures of her...until next time....

Almost There!

We only have about 4 weeks left until this semester is over! I love school but I'm excited for the week break before classes start again. We have family coming in for Adelaide's birthday next month, so that will be fun.
Michael and I have been trying to get him his CDL license so that he can get into power line work. We have come to a few obstacles but we have figured them out for the most part. Hopefully, since he isn't on track for school next semester, he can apply for the school and get in for the July openings. He is doing well in his classes, well as well as you can while working 40 hours a week and going to school full time. He is such a hard worker and I appreciate him so much!
I have just registered for classes next semester. Thankfully I got all the classes I needed except for one, which is okay. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get into a tennis or volleyball class, so I am going to try and do the intramural tennis team. I really want a fun class and it looks like I will have a pretty boring semester. It's one step closer to graduating so I will deal with it. (:
Adelaide is doing great. She is growing so fast. It seems that every since she has been sick she hasn't wanted to walk. She would prefer to crawl, so she might be a late walker. She lost so much weight and was so drained that I figured it took a lot out of her. She had a check-up last weekend and they said she sound great! Her lungs sounded clear and she gained a pound back! She is a whopping 16lbs! LOL So she is a little small but they said not to worry, that she will bounce back. She has a tooth coming in with another one not far behind. The funny part is that its what we call the vampire teeth. She has two bottom front teeth right now and no signs of the top front teeth coming in. I looked and her left vampire tooth has started to poke its way through. Her right one is very close to poking through also. So, I imagine she is going to look silly for awhile until her top front teeth come in. I'm so glad she is getting more teeth. She is ready for big people food and done with baby food for the most part but since she has only two teeth she can't chew well. She gums everything until it disintegrates. It's really funny. She loves to read and throw balls too. I took her to the park with a friend the other day to try out the swings.  She didn't like it one bit. I don't think she felt very secure in the swing, especially since she is so small and they were so big. She started crying very quickly. Luckily, I snapped a picture right before the tears came. Maybe we can try again in a few months.

This past tuesday we got a new nephew in the family!!! Jaxson Holland Quick was born 8lbs 13.6 oz and 21 inches long. He had some trouble breathing at first and then he got an infection, but he is doing very good now. He was able to meet his older brother, Jace for the first time today. I wish I could be there so bad! I want to hold that baby!! I'm so happy for Jon and Leisha! They make such adorable kids. He looks a lot like Jon to me...I dont know why but he just does.
He doesn't have all this on him anymore...this was the only picture I had though
Before Adelaide got sick we took a few pictures of her eating her first waffle. It was really funny. She loved them!

She has been doing this cute thing that when we feed her baby food she will grab a hold of the spoon with her top gums and her teeth and won't let go. She give us a huge smile as the food seeps out the sides of her mouth until we smile back and then she releases the spoon. It's so funny. Her little nose crinkles up and she just gives a huge cheesy smile. (:

Adelaide looks so cute in these little headbands. This one she doesn't seem to like. I think it is a little itchy. I have a plain white clothy one that looks so adorable. But here are a few pictures. (: Until next time....

Better Baby

Adelaide is doing so well now! We got to go home from the hospital last thursday ( a week ago) thankfully! She was sent home with antibiotics and a steroid for her nebulizer to help with the inflammation. The morning before we left I noticed that Adelaide's IV arm (right) was really swollen and hard. We immediately told the nurses and they quickly took her IV out telling us that it was infiltrated and began dispersing the fluids into her arm. They said that it wasn't a big deal and that her arm should be back to normal that night. They also said that since she lost a good bit of weight that she might not eat as much for a few days. It took her awhile to get back to her normal feeding schedule. But, all in all, she is doing so much better! She is back to her usual self and I love it! It just broke my heart when she was so sick. Plus it scared me just a little bit. I am truly grateful that she has recovered so well.
Mike and I have struggled catching up in school but we are doing our best! They have this thing on the BYU-I website called "what-if calculator". Basically you can put in estimates for future grades and see what the final grade will be. Well I did that and realized that no matter how hard I try I will probably come out of this semester with Bs. :( I am really disappointed because I have been trying super hard to make all As this semester. I guess I will have to try harder next semester!
Until next time check out my facebook for pictures and videos of Adelaide. (:

Sicky Baby

Poor Adelaide has been really sick these past few days. We thought she got over the RSV so we stopped her breathing treatments. Well this past sunday she just made a huge 180 and stopped eating, sleeping, and she had a rather high fever. We tried to bring down her fever but despite our efforts it wasn't working. She also started to breathe fast and shallow. So we called her doctor and they said if we felt it was urgent to take her to the ER or to try and wait until Monday and bring her in for some tests. Well we decided to wait and man was that a long night. Since Adelaide was running such a high fever (102) she was just radiating heat but she wouldn't sleep by herself. She wanted to be cuddled constantly. If we didn't hold her she would just cry and scream. We tried to get her to drink anything, even koolaid, just to hydrate her. She was very pale and lethargic. She was not her normal self.
We took her to her pediatrician, Dr. Sena, monday morning after giving her a breathing treatment to help open up her lungs. He took some blood, like usual (for some reason he takes her blood every time we go in for her being sick) and came back to tell us that she had pneumonia. He told us that we could give her a shot and with that shot she should dramatically change or we could take her to the ER. So of course we gave her the shot. Well she didn't change. We called Dr. Sena and he told us to come and get her medical records and an admittance sheet for Madison Memorial Hospital. We get her records, jump in the car and put our seatbelts on, turn the wheel on the truck and we hear a huge pop sound. Well it turned out that the bolt sheered off and the tire came loose. We got  a tow truck and a friend to pick up Adelaide and I. After about 2 hours (Dr. Sena for some reason told us to get her records but they weren't ready when we went to get them....) Adelaide and I finally made it to the hospital. We got her checked in and they put an IV in right away. After a few minutes there they moved us up to a room of our own. Ever since then the nurses and Dr. Zollinger have been trying to get her lungs clear and fever down. We have been in the hospital since Monday and we're hoping to go home tomorrow. Adelaide is now doing better, her lungs are getting clear and she is sleeping and eating little by little each day. She keeps getting a fever at night which is their concern. Hopefully we can keep that down and get her home.
Meanwhile we are falling behind in school. I have been trying to do some work here and there while Adelaide sleeps but its difficult when people come in to give her medication and check her. We have emailed all of our professors and told them what was going on so hopefully they will be a little lenient on us. (: Until next time...

My Little Bug

So, it's been awhile since I have updated and I thought that I would update everyone on what's going on.
We did Adelaide's breathing treatments for about a week and half until we stopped. She was on albuterol so it made her super duper hyper. So as soon as we felt like she was better we stopped it. It really helped her breathe and open up and get rid of all of her mucus in her nose and throat. Thankfully she is better now. Although, she has been extra sleepy and drooly these past few days and it makes me feel like she is going to cut teeth again soon, but we will see. She has been so adorable with all of her faces that she makes. Today we went to the store after mike left for work and we were just talking and blabbing about nothing. Well I got her out of the carseat and she points at me and says, "momma" I said "yeah!!! momma!!!" but after that she wouldn't say it again. But, I think she definitely put a meaning to that word. She has been saying "momma" and "dada" for awhile but I dont think she really understood or connected those words with people. So I was really excited. (: Maybe I was just being weird.

Mike and I have actually been able to have a date night for the past couple of weeks. It has been so nice! One night we bought cheap steaks, asparagus, baked potatoes, french bread, zucchini, squash and salad to make after adelaide went to bed. It actually all turned out really well. It tasted soo good I was really excited. We had a nice evening together even though Adelaide was still there. (:

I have been struggling a little bit with my grades. It has become rather difficult to keep my grades up.
So this past week I have tried really hard to get my grades up. I finally have one A, three B's, and one D. I'm still working on the D but for the most part I got the rest of my grades up. And...I made a B on my science test today. I was super excited about that because I am terrible with science. Anyway, school is going well.

Mike's job is going well. The stinky thing is that he had to buy tools and they were pretty expensive. But we have been very blessed that he even has a job that pays better than most around here.
The other day I was just hanging out with Adelaide and was wondering if maybe I could french braid her hair. It's really long so I thought while she was drinking her bottle I would try it out. Well it actually turned out kind of cute. If she would sit still it would've turned out better but she is a baby so I can't expect much. (: Well, here are a few pictures of her braids. Until next time...

She loves to play peek-a-boo with everything

Date Night...pshhhhh

So this week has been kind of crazy. Mike started his new job at Dickinson Frozen Foods and Adelaide has been getting more sick as the days go on. Mike applied for a maintenance job about 2 weeks ago and finally got the position. It was kind of frustrating because as soon as they told him that he got the job they pretty much fired their HR guy. So...for about a week Mike just stayed in his previous position until they found someone to do the paper work. That was kind of frustrating. But in the end...it is a tremendous blessing that he was able to get this new job. He gets paid a little more than before, but a little bit goes a looong way. (:
We haven't had much time to ourselves and we haven't had a "real" date night in a really long time. Most of the time we have to take Adelaide with just because we decide last minute to go. We haven't been to the temple in too long because of school, mike's job, and Adelaide. It's sad when you have a temple right up the hill and don't even go to it. So my goal is to go at least twice a month from now on.

Adelaide is learning so much. She has learned to get the lid off of pretty much anything by using her bottom teeth. She loves to bulldoze her way through chairs, boxes, the trashcan and people. Also, she loves to just throw things. If there is stuff on a table she can reach or the couch, she will take it and just throw on the floor and move on to the next thing. She doesn't even play with it, just throws it. She gets into anything and everything from the fridge to the trash. She also eats everything that can fit in her mouth.
A few weeks ago Adelaide got a cold. I figured it was just because she was teething. Well, no teeth have come in. They at least start poking through by now. Well it just got worse. She developed this terrible cough, she stopped sleeping through the night, and had a really bad runny/stuffy nose. So we finally just decided to take her to the doctor when the cough started to get worse. We took her today and they did a bunch of tests. Well, she has RSV! GREAT! We have all been terribly sick and all she gets is RSV is what I'm thinking. Nope, RSV is a severe cold. It's bad for infants because there is so much phlegm it's hard for them to breathe. So we have to give her breathing treatments for the next 2 weeks. Poor Adelaide. And her eczema has been coming back on her face from where I wipe her nose so much. It's so sad.
Mike and I have this Physical Geography class and man is it awful. It's boring and kind of pointless since neither of us need it for our major. We just needed a filler class to have 12 credits and that's what was left. Well he doesn't assign homework and I was unaware that we were supposed to read something before every class period. ( I don't know what I thought this class would be that easy) Well we have our first exam tomorrow...not too excited. I'm pretty sure I will not do well; but hey, I can try.
Anyway, that's what we have been up to. This was mostly just a talking blog.
BUT...until next time... (:

I Should Just Call This The Adelaide Blog

Adelaide has been pretty crazy lately. She is learning new things left and right. As I study in my child development class I always think of Adelaide and the things she does. It's so interesting to learn about her and see her grow. I have been trying to be more laid back with her and not so "tight-reigned." I used to keep her out of the kitchen but it's so difficult and she likes to explore. So I figured if she isn't doing anything crazy then she is fine. So...she has been loving that.
She loves to stand up and act like she is going to walk on her own. She hasn't quite got the balance thing down yet so she just falls. She eats anything and everything from plastic to paper. We actually had a HUGE scare where she was choking on some plastic and I couldn't get it out of her throat. I frantically went across the hall to our neighbors house (Dan is an EMT) and asked them for help. She ended up swallowing it, but man that was the scariest moment of my life. We took her for her 9 month check-up ad she weighed a whopping 16lbs. She is 27in also. So, she's tiny. She is only in the 24th percentile for both height and weight. She is as cute as ever though. Her hair is still too short to be tucked behind her ears, so she has the "emo" baby look a lot. Adelaide has had a cold for the past like 2 weeks. I thought she was teething but nothing is coming through! It's so frustrating. We gave her a bath today but before we did I took some pictures of her. She was running rampant through the house....NAKED! It was so cute and she loved it.

Also, our friend's birthday was this past week. So we had cobbler for her cake. It was delicious!! :D She is pretty fantastic. I have so much fun with her. (:

It was my dad's birthday this past week too!! On the same day as our friend's birthday actually. I miss being home and celebrating birthdays with everyone. I really miss my family. Anyway, so yeah...my dad turned the big 50!! Crazy! He doesn't look it though. He pretty much is the coolest dad ever. I miss him so much. He has helped me through a ton of stuff, even when I didn't deserve it. Sometimes when Adelaide smiles I can see my dad in her. So, thanks for being a great example for me. I have learned so much from you. I love you.
We have been pretty busy with school stuff. I love school though. I know I'm probably weird but for some reason I just really enjoy college. My child development class is pretty fantastic. I mean I don't like all of my classes but hey, who does?
Adelaide seems to be doing well with the babysitter. Although, she has started screaming and crying when she doesn't get what she wants....I don't know if she has learned that from one of the other kids, but man..she's a stinker. She loves to make noises with her hand and mouth. So here are some pictures of her doing that. (: Until next time....
